ABOUT TOUR DE VILLE - Tour de Ville is an annual, festive event centered on a leisurely bike ride around Historic Downtown Huntsville. The ride begins and ends at S.R. Butler Green, located at Campus No. 805 on Clinton Avenue. Riders will enjoy several noteworthy “rest stops” along the route and learn interesting nuggets about Huntsville and its rich history. The Pedal Power Exhibition, out post-ride celebration, will include music, food, drinks, and local craft beer available at Straight to Ale and other Campus No. 805 businesses. Our 2022 route will include stops at the following noteworthy and historical sites: Lowe Mill, Maple Hill Cemetery, James A. Lane Boys and Girls Club, Lincoln Commissary, and Council High Memorial Park. As in previous years, we'll have a short route and a long route, and based on feedback from last year's ride, both routes will stop at the same locations as the same time! This allows riders to switch between either route during the ride! Bring your bikes, helmets, friends, and the entire family, and have fun riding throughout Huntsville, learning about the city while supporting a worthy cause!
Route maps coming soon!
DON'T HAVE A BIKE? - We are working with local vendors to, once again, provide free bike use to those who would like to participate and don't have a bike. Stay tuned for updates!
OUR CAUSE - Money raised from the event will provide needed funds to support kids and programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama, Williams Unit. Your registration fee is tax-deductible, and these funds allow us to fulfill our mission: to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The ride also promotes The Boys & Girls Club’s Healthy Lifestyles programs.
The PEDAL POWER EXHIBITION - We are EXCITED to partner with HUBS Coop again this year to cultivate a fun atmosphere for biking and emerging biking enthusiasts. The Exhibition will be 11:30am to 3pm, starting directly after Tour de Ville riders return to S.R. Butler Green, and will offer an exhibition of e-bikes, cargo bikes, pedicabs, and how pedal power can make a greener, sustainable Huntsville Metro! Make plans to stay and enjoy these awesome post-ride activities!
WEATHER - The ride will go on rain or shine. In case of severe weather, the start time will be delayed. If severe weather persists, the ride may be canceled, and your tax-deductible registration will remain a donation to the B&G Club. Therefore, there will be no refunds of donation/registration fees.
RIDER SAFETY: Although the Tour de Ville routing will take full advantage of bike lanes, bikeways, quiet neighborhood streets, and a low-traffic period, there will be exposure to automotive traffic along public roads. Safety Riders from the local cycling community will guide the group along the route and attempt to keep the group organized. However, given the potential exposure to automotive traffic, the following will apply:
COVID-19 PROVISIONS: The Tour de Ville committee is committed to providing a safe, healthy environment for our riders and attendees! We continue to monitor and incorporate CDC guidelines as necessary.
